A vehicle specification has changed
Onboard charger ratings and connectors change by model year and sometimes mid-generation. If your window sticker disagrees with our table, your window sticker is right and we want to hear about it.
You are an electrician or an inspector

What we cannot help with
This is not a brush-off, it is the honest boundary of what a website can do safely on this subject. Four things come up regularly and all four are better answered somewhere other than here.
- A quote for your installation. We are not electricians and cannot price your job. Use the installation cost calculator and get two written quotes locally.
- A design for your circuit. Conductor and breaker sizing for a specific house is licensed work, and doing it by email would be both unsafe and useless to you.
- Diagnosing a fault. If something is warm, discoloured or tripping, stop charging on that circuit and call a licensed electrician today rather than writing to a website.
- Which charger to buy for a car we do not cover. The onboard charger rating on your window sticker plus the amperage chart will answer it faster than we can.
The second and third of those are the important ones. Sizing a circuit for a specific installation is licensed work that depends on details of your house nobody can see by email, and a fault that is producing heat is an urgent local problem rather than a research question. Response times and what happens next
A correction with a page reference and a specific figure is usually verified and either fixed or queried within a few days. Where a correction changes a number that lives in the shared data files, the fix propagates to every page that quotes it at the same time, which is one of the reasons the site is built that way.
General questions get an answer when we can, and questions that would amount to designing or diagnosing an electrical installation get a polite redirection to a licensed electrician rather than an attempt at an answer. We would rather be unhelpful than confidently wrong about a 240 volt circuit.
How we handle your message
Email you send us is used to reply to you and to fix whatever you have told us about, and it is not added to any mailing list.
